When the pandemic hit Europe, lifelong diplomat, former ambassador to Cuba, and Turtle Point author Herman Portocarero was at his home in Bahía Dorada near the tip of Spain, just north of Gibraltar. He found himself in quarantine and he remains there, separated from his family by the Atlantic, while his wife and son are in their small apartment in Harlem, New York.
